An Apex Legends fan offers his idea for a Sentinel upgrade that would make the sniper rifle more useful in certain situations.
There are many ways Respawn Entertainment could improve Apex Legends, and a fan has an idea for a change they’d like to see. 2022 saw some welcome changes Apex Legends, and it’s likely that 2023 will have at least a few of its own. Such a change could make the Sentinel sniper rifle a helpful door-busting tool if the fan gets their way.
The odds are the best Apex Legends Players know how tedious it is to deal with enemy players hiding behind doors. By closing one and standing directly behind it, it’s possible to block the door from being opened by other players, and since doors usually can’t be destroyed by shooting, it usually forces players to resort to either grenades or melee attacks when they do want to break through. As a result, many players are on the lookout for tricks that make breaking down doors easier Apex Legends.
One way the game could achieve this would be to give the Sentinel the ability to break down doors, a suggestion by Reddit user Lenny_72_72. They asked that in their post Apex Legends Community their thoughts on the Sniper Rifle being able to destroy doors when charged, similar to the buff that the Rampage LMG is currently offering. This hypothetical upgrade would only cause shots to pry open a door instead of penetrating it, they said, making the Sentinel useful against the fugitive barrier without completely taking away the protection it offers to enemy players.
In some context, the Rampage can go into a “Boosted” state by consuming a Thermite Grenade, temporarily increasing its rate of fire and enabling it to break down doors in two shots. The Sentinel, meanwhile, can be “Amped”, temporarily increasing damage output when using a Shield Cell. Since the two mechanics are very similar, Lenny_72_72 thinks it would make sense for both turrets to have the door blast buff on charge, not just the rampage.
Overall, their suggestion was received positively, with many fans agreeing that the upgrade would be a welcome and balanced addition to the Sentinel. The Sentinel is far from it Apex Legends‘ Most versatile guns thanks to its slow rate of fire, but this would also ensure a door-busting upgrade could be useful without being overwhelmed as it could give enemy players time to react if their cover is blown to bits.
It remains to be seen if Respawn will ever consider adding such a buff to the Sentinel. However with Apex Legends Season 16 is expected to arrive next month, players should expect new changes to be made to the game’s weapons soon.
Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
